Customer Profiles and Data Attributes

The customer profile page is where critical customer details are stored. It displays a customer's full conversation history, their avatar if available, and any email addresses, phone numbers, or social media profiles attached to their account.

From the profile page you can also edit the customer's name or archive them. Archiving a customer will block all future incoming messages from their associated email addresses, phone numbers, and social media profiles. You can unarchive a customer at any time using the same action.
If a customer exists under two different email addresses, you can merge the profiles by selecting Merge with Another Customer from the customer profile. Once merged, the profile that was merged will be emptied. Re:amaze will retain a record of that profile in your Contacts tab, but it will no longer be active.

Customer data attributes

Customer data attributes are data points about your customer that are displayed under the first message of every conversation. They help your support team identify customers and track important characteristics. Attributes can be added manually or programmatically via the Re:amaze API.

For example, a customer attribute name might be "Membership Status" with a value of "Gold."

Adding attributes manually

Open a customer's profile by selecting their name from any conversation page, or search for their profile from the Contacts tab.

  1. In the right rail, enter the attribute name and value for each attribute you want to add.
  2. You can add as many attributes as needed. Previously used attribute names and values will be available in a quick dropdown.

Add attributes via API

When customers are authenticated, you can also provide data attributes programmatically. These attributes will appear in Re:amaze under the Contacts section and alongside incoming customer conversations. This is useful for syncing application-specific information into Re:amaze. You can also use the Re:amaze JSON API for server-to-server data syncing.

For detailed instructions, see this article.
